Bangkok-based architecture firm NPDA Studio (the New Paradigm of Design and Architecture) recently designed the Prachasongkroa Kindergarten School in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. Spearheaded by design director Nutthawut Piriyaprakob, the building juxtaposes concrete against bright, with primary colors and free form geometric shapes. The building is comprised of many contrasting elements—wavy lines and sharp geometric edges, glossy surfaces and rough stone—in an effort to foster creative and innovative thinking in the students.
The kindergarten building is connected to an elementary school in an enclosed space, surrounded by trees and other buildings. NPDA Studio wanted their structure to transform the enclosed area into an imagination hideout for the children, protecting them from the outside world.
