Check out these awesome illustrations of soccer uniforms, aka kits, of storied squads from different teams’ eras, from around the globe. The difference here is the illustrator, Mark Yesilevsky, leaves out the players who would occupy the kits. The result puts an emphasis on the design and composition of the kit itself, removing the focus from the player who usually occupies the uniform. It’s a simple yet ingenious way to refocus on the design of the kit, creating something both for soccer fans and design enthusiasts alike.
This brings together a couple recent design obsessions we’ve been having regarding soccer lately, including with the typography of soccer uniforms as well as an animated flipbook tribute to Thierry Henry.
