Los Angeles-based artist Justin Bower opened a solo exhibition recently at Unix Gallery in New York City entitled "Panic Room." Bower's large-scale paintings are chaotic and surreal and reference our troubled relationships with technology. In the gallery's words, "Panic Room focuses on the destabilization of the human subject and problematizes how we define ourselves in this digital and virtual age." From a distance, the paintings look like digital creations, but the closer you look the more the intricate, layered details show through. The exhibition opened on October 24, but you still have until December 12 to check it out.
