Alternative Apparel has teamed up with the Sustainable Alpaca Network, Pacomarca for its upcoming Made in Peru collection. In doing so, the brand is helping to keep the region's thousand-year-old Alpaca herding tradition alive and providing a sustainable income for the communities living high up in the Andes mountains. Plus, the alpacas up in this extreme terrain provide some of the softest and warmest wools known to man.

Alternative Apparel documented their whole trip to the mountians to show the everyday life of the farmers they are working with. Some of whom, we might add, put together very stylish and colorful traditional outfits. Learn more about this tradition that’s been around since the days of the Inca by watching the clip above. Stay tuned to see the products that started up in the Andes on the backs of alpacas, set to drop in a short bit.
