The Scottish artist Robert Montgomery’s first solo show in New York has been a long time coming. For years, he’s been creating situationist billboards that fuse poetry and a strong visual language that help in “uncovering the sacred in the mundane.” Usually, these works appear in public spaces. But his lyric billboards are have appeared at the C24 Gallery in Chelsea over the last month, until October 19. In the above video clip, Blouin ArtInfo gives us a glimpse into the show and Montgomery’s process.

“I don’t necessarily think about myself as being a poet,” he says in the clip. “But I certainly think about trying to bring poetry into my practice as an artist. By osmosis, I think that kind of voice just bled into my work.”
