A call of papers about the most obnoxious technology ever.

Electronic cigarettes are here to stay, whether we like it or not. A short time ago, smokers and non-smokers alike scoffed at how stupid people in ads looked smoking them and now you can't go anywhere without some douchebag blowing their vapor in the air. Rhizome has sent out a call for papers about the vaporizing technology and will host a symposium on the subject in February 2014. The organization has requested papers that consider the e-cigarette "socially, politically, aesthetically, [and] economically" in relation to standard cigarettes, stating that they are "casting a wide net for histories, essays, artworks, workshops, and polymorphous contributions to shape this inquiry to be held online and off." The deadline for submissions is November 12. Head to the Rhizome site to find out more.
