Months after leaving his post as Creative Director at A Bathing Ape, Tomoaki Nagao, aka Nigo, has landed on his feet. Uniqlo has announced that the streetwear legend has been appointed the Creative Director of the Uniqlo UT line. For the unfamiliar, this is the retailer’s special project branch that deals with limited edition T-shirts for men and women. You may have noticed floor-to-ceiling displays in certain Uniqlo locations showcasing all the designs. These are about to get the golden touch.

This is an ideal position for Nigo. It’s no secret that he started his iconic streetwear empire by selling screen-printed T-shirts, so this job should be a piece of cake. According to WWD, his first designs will come this summer and will offer items for men, women, and children. Past Uniqlo UT collaborations included the likes of Terry Richardson, KeithHaring, Gundam, PeterSutherland, and others. With Nigo’s many connections, we can’t wait to see who he brings along for the ride. The next couples of months are going to be tough to wait out.
