Miley Cyrus' "Sexy" Style Has Been Inspired by Marc Jacobs Since Age 16

She also calls her style "punk."

Miley Cyrus pretty much splits America into two categories: you either think her image and self-portrayal is awesome or it makes you feel skeevy. In a recent interview with Hunger TV, Cyrus credits her desire to be "sexy" not to her hip-gyrating popstar predecessors, but to the fashion designer Marc Jacobs.

Cyrus has been flashing her bits and pieces all over the place, from the stage of the MTV VMAs and her video "Wrecking Ball" to photo shoots with Terry Richardson. Turns out that Jacobs, who first got her into fashion at the age of sixteen, inspires her to be sexy and confident.

"That’s the same as ‘Wrecking Ball’. It has to be sexy and strong and that’s what I feel like with fashion, I feel like Marc does that so well," Cyrus said.

Even though some might scoff at Cyrus, she sees herself as a punk, albeit a punk wearing high fashion labels and living a lavish life. "I like having this punk feel about it even if it’s like Louboutin. You’ve got to find the right designers that know how to mix. When I was in Paris working with Kenzo, that’s something that they do really well there too," Cyrus said.

We can only imagine would Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious would think about Miley twerking and wearing a Michael Jordan jersey diaper and now relating this to dudes who raged against social issues and were legitimate badasses.
