We recently stopped by FAILE's studio in Brooklyn to talk about their artistic practice, their recent tower and wheels installations with the New York City Ballet, and their current Where Wild Won't Break exhibition at Dallas Contemporary. As FAILE's first solo exhibition, Where Wild Won’t Break contains FAILE's prayer wheels, inspired by Tibetan meditative contemplation, and a 14-foot tower resembling the piece they did for the New York City Ballet.
FAILE have spent years drawing inspiration from pop culture iconography and their travels. They began as street artists, and while they still complete murals and outdoor installations, much of their work exists in galleries, museums, and indoor spaces, in a way that pushes the limitations of how work is traditionally presented.
