General shoe rule: Monotone uppers married to gum soles win. Concepts, a Cambridge-based store breathing life into dull Harvard students since 1996, understands this idea. The shop's latest collaboration with Clarks, the "Desert Palmer," comes in both burgundy and teal and avoids the classic heeled sole in favor of gum-colored Desert Trek tooling.

What the fuck is Desert Trek tooling? Like many Concepts collaborations, this shoe has an underlying theme. The concept with the Desert Palmer is born from a desire to deconstruct the shoe while retaining its essential DNA. I doubt many folks outside of a Kingston Dancehall would spot the difference. However, if you are scared of coming off like a chump, choose rock over ragga. Don't let footwear traditionalists step on your toes.

These joints release this Saturday exclusively at Concepts. For those outside of New England, the "Desert Palmer" strikes online at 12pm EST.
