Versace's Mansion Goes On Sale Soon For Crumbs (Video)

Versace, Versace, Versace.

None

Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace died a billionaire in 1997, leaving behind several properties and a successful company. The Miami Beach property where he lived was this 23,462-square-foot mansion with 10 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a 24karat gold-lined pool, and just about everything else you would imagine a billionaire owning. Versace was killed on the front steps of the mansion and the owners later turned it into a boutique hotel.

After complicated bankruptcies and legal troubles (one of which involved Ponzi-schemer Scott Rothstein who invested in the property with stolen money), the mansion hit the market at $125million then suffered multiple severe price cuts. Now the property, known as Casa Casuarina, is up for auction again with a starting price of $30million, a quarter of the original price. Bidding on the property begins on September 17 and potential buyers have to put $3million deposit down and prove that they can afford at least another $40million, so we are out. We're hoping that a rapper buys it and convinces MTV to bring back Cribs, or maybe even the less popular How I'm Livin on BET (they may want to spend a couple million on security so they don't suffer Versace's fate).
