"Back in the early 200s, I was DJing a party in NYC called Shout!, a club infamous not only for wild nights but also for the celebrity rocker clientele that was fueling the new wave of bands coming out around that time. I eventually went down to Miami, where I left the nightlife and became involved in the local art scene, working for world renowned collectors, the Rubell Family, and launching an arts nonprofit in Miami's gallery district, Wynwood.  When I got back to New York, I began producing photo shoots for high profile commercial brands, and magazines like Dazed & Confused, Wonderland, Biba, Remix, and various international editions of Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and Vogue.  Always drawn towards the artful life, I took on art making full-time, inspired by an undying love of art history and a habit of working on large-scale productions. GRIN Gallery in Providence, R.I. is hosting my first solo show, opening Thursday September 19, titled "Prolegomenon." Often delving into speculative histories and alternate universes, the work considers the possibilities of sublime mysticism and poetry in everyday life." —Steven Pestana

"This piece is from a series called 'Citrinitas,' where a lot of the ideas in my current work first appeared. Named after one of the steps in the alchemical process of transmutation, 'Citrinitas' was a multimedia project including original songs with accompanying imagery and videos. The themes of mysticism and transformation that it explored still inspire what I'm doing now. You can hear some of the audio below."
