Graphic designer Peter Savilletold Dezeen tonight at the London Design Festival that he is working with Kanye West to develop a visual identity. Kanye has worked with artists and graphic designers in the past on project specific designs, but he and Saville are building an "open-ended" collaboration. Saville says that they discussed the YSL logo and that Kanye "wants a YSL." Savile added, "We're looking at ways of writing 'Kanye West.' What does 'Kanye' and 'Kanye West' look like written down?"

If anyone can help him reach that level of recognizable iconography, Saville can. This year's recipient of the London Design Medal, Saville is most-known for designing record sleeves for Joy Division, New Order, Wham!, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, and various other bands, and more recently his work has been featured in exhibitions and in collaborations with brands including Supreme. It will be exciting to see what he and Kanye (a musician well-versed in art direction) can come up with.
