An infestation of giant fluorescent snails has overrun Sydney.

In a similar move that many cities have taken with moose (Montreal), cows (Chicago), and other citywide sculptures of organisms, Sydney has installed 24 massive snails throughout its streets and parks.

It’s a part of the Art & About Sydney project, an annual event of art in public spaces. The organization worked with the collective called Cracking Art Group to put the two-dozen immobile mollusks into the world. And, as a reminder to be environmentally kind to even the small snails that we often don’t see or think about, these sculptures are made of 100 percent recycled materials. It’s called Snailovation and the sculptures will remain on the streets until October 20.

Check out some shots of the icky beasties above.
