Augustine Kofie (aka Kofie One) will present his third solo show at White Walls entitled "Structurally Sound" opening September 14. The works in the exhibition were painted in Los Angeles between May and August of this year and began as notes and sketches on found paper. The large canvas paintings were created to explore the idea that Kofie's art (which resembles architectural designs) could be built, creating what the artist refers to as a "mock dialogue" that searches for "relationships between an engineer’s tongue and a constructivist visual response." He also states that, "an affinity to compartmentalizing forms represented in both an angular and horizontal fashion leads to works that are visually strong, but subconsciously touch on the idea of instability."

Kofie's works are created through a process of construction and deconstruction, but are still rooted in and informed by the street art that he created in Los Angeles in the 90s. For more information about "Structurally Sound," visit the White Walls exhibition page here.
