As Marina Abramovic continues to raise funds via Kickstarter to build the new Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI) performance and education center, she also continues to share more and more about the Abramovic Method. Through practice demonstrations with pop artist Lady Gaga, an AMA (ask me anything) on reddit exclusively for Kickstarter donors, and several preview videos released on the Kickstarter page, Abramovic is sharing more about her performance art techniques and motivations than ever before.
In this video, the artist explains an art installation entitled MAI Prototype that was first seen as a part of the Toronto Luminato Festival in June. The seven chamber installation served as a mobile preview of the physical Institute. In an interview for the festival, Abramovic stated that the idea behind MAI Prototype is an exchange between herself and the participants in which she teaches them how to experience performance art: "you give me time, I give you experience." Each chamber holds a different task/lesson of the Abramovic Method, including the Water Drinking Exercise.
