We've lost count already of how many NEKST tribute murals there have been since the artist's untimely death in 2012, which shows just how many lives he touched and how many artists loved and respected him. This mural by Askew1 has a multi-layered backstory: the photo used was taken by renowed photographer KC Ortiz and used on suggestion by Pose. The paint he used belonged to NEKST and was left in Revok's studio. Obviously, most people who see this mural in Detroit won't know the backstory and many will not know who NEKST was, but that doesn't detract from how important it is or how important he was to the culture overall.
