Dasha Shishkin, "erry icket"
July 6 – September 8

New York-based artist Dasha Shishkin presents a body of work made specifically for the MCA. Shishkin's large paintings combine various complex narratives, though the artist abstains from defining her work. Using mylar sheets and various media, she creates colorful, "fable-like" scenes that often combine opposing themes of the grotesque and the erotic.

Edgar Orlaineta, "Katsina Horizon"
July 6 - September 8

Using wood from naturally-fallen trees, Edgat Orlaineta creates doll sculptures using a lathe. The pieces are inspired by modernist design and work to, in the artist's words, "direct attention to the transformative powers of the everyday and its relentless aspiration for a utopian way of life."

Ro Snell, "All that is left"
September 29- December 8

Santa Barbara-based artist Ro Snell considers, as the title of the exhibition suggest, what remains after a period of time, both literally and abstractly in the physical and mental sense. Snell uses objects like the sage root and hemp above to explore ideas of perception, emotion, and recollection.
