While a place to live is one of the basic necessities for any human being, many struggle to obtain and keep a home. Belgian artist Karl Philips has proposed a living solution for some city dwellers by creating living spaces inside trailer billboards. His project "The Good, the Bad, the Ugly" uses billboards to create an inhabitable space beneath the surface of the advertisements, as angled boards form a stable pyramid shape underneath.

Although the billboard homes do not provide luxurious living quarters, they create an indoor space that were not available before. While their inhabitants are actually able to get paid for the advertising on their homes, the billboards act as a commercial cover for a residential space. As Philips builds spaces for living using surfaces built for advertising, his work questions society's use of space functioning under a set of values that have steered away from basic survival.
