Portable housing comes in many forms, but this is one of our favorites. The BANGA is a portable bungalow living unit, featuring a futuristic design. The structures were first created by an unknown designer in 1971 and manufactured by Bungalows International SRL in Milan, Italy as compact vacation homes but remain abandoned today.

The rounded structures are reminiscent of the space age of the '60s and '70s and reflect aesthetics of the popular art and post-war architecture of the era. The bungalows were made to be holiday houses that fit up to four, equipped with sofa beds, a small bathroom, and a kitchenette within 8.1 square meters of interior space. Although right now, the BANGA units have gone through extensive wear and remain vulnerable in a site of a future Italian holiday resort, architect and restoration expert Pamela Voigt wishes to bring them back to life. Find out what you can do to help save the BANGA by contacting Pamela Voigt.
