People were a little confused when they saw the minimalist approach that Kanye West and his company DONDA took with the cover art for his new album, Yeezus. The CD case was left blank except for a piece of red tape with the album title written on it, leaving fans wondering if it was in fact the official packaging.
A new Tumblr called "Yeezus 'Please Add Graffiti'," started by Leighton McDonald, was made so that fans could create their own cover art, based on the directive from the initial image tweeted by Jean Touitou (below). In a way, the official typeface for the album is its own kind of graffiti or street-font. So far, the entries are super impressive, which makes us think that Kanye may have imagined this type of fan participation all along. Check out some of the submissions so far, and brace yourselves, because June 18 is coming.
