If there were anyone to challenge what a conventional sneaker design should look like, it would be Rick Owens. As the story goes, the dedicated gym rat wanted to incorporate cardio into his workout. However, the sneakers on the market weren’t up to par with his goth ninja steeze. His solution of course was to partner with one of the world’s premier sneaker brands, adidas. After announcing the collaboration a few days ago, the shoe is finally revealed.
At first glance you can already see Owens’ avant-garde approach to fashion in the design. If we had to guess the inspiration, we would say animal hoofs. The branding is subtle. Look closely and you’ll notice adidas’ three-stripe mark comes in the form of diagonal perforations on the side of the shoe. Constructed in a mix of leather and nylon, the shoe will come in six different colorways for men and four for women starting December. What do you think of Rick Owens’ first shoe with adidas?
