After his large-scale, tongue-in-cheek installation for Frieze NY, many have been wondering what Paul McCarthy will unveil for his show WS for NYC's Park Avenue Armory. The exhibition, opening June 19, is set to be the confrontational artist's biggest to date. Small glimpses of what he has in store have been shared on Instagram, however Louisa McCarthy, a member of the McCarthy clan, has now revealed more than before.
McCarthy is apparently creating a surreal forest-like landscape. However there will also be video and sculptures with not so innocent themes. There will be line-pushing, sexual elements that will display pure pop culture figures as malevolent creatures. The exhibit coincides with another similar installation he has created with his son Damon that will open June 20 at Hauser & Wirth’s Chelsea warehouse.
