These sculptures by emerging artist Michelle Matson are cool but a little disturbing, like most of the artist's work. She crafted human-like pieces out of hundreds of paper leaves and flowers. While the artistry involved is amazing, the poses are a little funny and a lot unsettling. One appears to be getting her eagle on (Nelly circa 2004), another is doing some sort of pelvic thrust, and the third may or may not be mid-twerk.
The sculptures are on view in Matson's current exhibition at Whitdel Art Gallery in Detroit until June 15.
