Back in January, Chanel Creative Director and professional insane human being Karl Lagerfeld made a stir when he showed his support for a marriage equality law in France. He did so by sending two women in identical wedding dresses down the runway, which solidified his stance on the issue. While at the time Lagerfeld seemed uncharacteristically sane, he has now reminded us just how ridiculous he can be when he puts his mind to it by claiming more or less that if he were allowed to marry his famed cat Choupette, he most assuredly would. "There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals...[but] I never thought I would fall in love with a cat like this," said the man famous for losing 93 pounds in less that a year all so he could squeeze himself into a Hedi Slimane-designed Dior Homme suit. Lagerfeld's knack for controversy and unintentional hilarity aside, this statement half sucks considering it's the kind of credence to the slippery slope logic regarding the sanctity of marriage that the right wing loves.
