Maybe the time has come for us to pay more attention to the younger generation's creativity.Kingston University students Jack Beveridge and Joshua Lake created the "Children's Furniture" project, building real-life chairs based on a series of children's drawings. The two artists held a class at St. John's Church of England Primary School in Kingston, Surrey and asked a group of seven- and eight-year-old kids to "Please draw a chair."
Two selections were picked from the drawings, which include creative designs that put adults to shame. One design was a yellow rocking chair with a red cushion and a fishbowl (containing a real goldfish). The other was a tribute to "Dennis the Menace," a tall wooden chair with wheels. While we often tend to overlook the ideas of children, the project suggests that there is a lot to be learned from the kids. Lake comments, "We had the most beautiful selection of designs that we couldn't come close to even dreaming of."
