Architects atAZPA have designed the "St. Martin Library" in Passiria, Italy, and it's not your traditional, bland college campus reading room. Serving a small mountain town, the facility was given a construction that pays homage to the area's customary architectural forms, featuring a pitched roof and a wooden facade. Exposed timber beams make the structure fit in with the neighboring alpine homes, while building techniques and interior planning incorporate modern design elements. The library includes traditional reading and book circulation areas, multimedia installations, adjustable dividing walls, a cafe, and rooftop terraces.
