Takayo Akiyama Illustrates Historical, Hilarious Maps For Alfred Dunhill

Makin' it witty while keeping it pretty.

Maps are great. They're function, they're fashion, they're decoration, and they're even comedy for Japanese creative Takayo Akiyama. These intricately-illustrated maps portray western England as a land where Queen Victoria is a hamster, and badgers drive cars. This piece was commissioned for luxury brand, Alfred Dunhill, honoring their historical relationship with Fox Mill. Akiyama characterizes English history and geography with "foxes" (of the Fox Mill) protecting the isle divided by states of double-decker buses, mushrooms, and planes. We're loving the hilarious hand-drawn illustrations.
