Riccardo Tisci's Givenchy Met Gala dress for Kim Kardashian was proof that even the most highly-regarded designer can swing and miss. The dress, which features a print you've seen in Supreme's spring/summer 2013 collection and New Order's Power, Corruption, & Lies album art, not only brought parody from a legendary comedian, but an explanation from Tisci himself.

The designer has become great friends with Kardashian and her soon-to-be baby daddy, Kanye West. That's nothing new, but Karadashian, who refers to Tisci as "Ricky," gave the designer full creative freedom to create her "punk" dress.

The flowers were not an after thought at all, it was Tisci's intention from the beginning of the design. "We should give her our punk moment with a romantic beautiful flower-printed dress. I have dressed many pregnant women in the past," Tisci said. "I think she looked amazing. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career.”
