After delays in construction in some areas of China due to unstable concrete, developers in Changsa, China will be breaking ground next month on what will be the world's tallest building. The structure will be called "Sky City" and is projected to stand 838 meters tall (2749.34 feet), 10 meters higher than the current title holder, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The structure will house 31,000 people in 220 floors, 83% of which will be for residential use. Because of green initiatives and pre-fabrication, Sky City is only projected to cost $625 million dollars, less than half the $1.5 billion spent in Dubai, and it will be completed in 7 months whereas the Burj Khalifa took 60.
We think it's safe to say that this race to the heavens is getting a little out of hand, but we can't help but to drool over the 3D projections of what the new structure is supposed to look like. Check out the video below for a complete walk-through of the upcoming project:
