Street artist P183, also known as Russian Banksy, has died according to Russia's English-language state broadcaster RT. He was known for his clever politically-themed artworks, gaining comparisons to the British artist Banksy. He wasn't a fan of the comparison, emphasizing he had been honing his craft for 14 years.

He worked primarily in Moscow however he gained international fame as publications began spreading word of his works. He preferred to be somewhat of a mystery, hiding his face with a black balaclava to conceal his identity. Reports state he was 28 at his death.

"Put simply, I want to teach people in this country to tell lies from the truth and to tell bad from good," the artist said to RT. "This is what our people still cannot do."
