Journalist Lalage Snow shot portraits of British soldiers over seven months, showing their faces before, during, and after being deployed to Afghanistan. The idea behind the project is to show the effect of war in a way that people can visualize. The men experienced injury, losing a brother who was also in war, excitement over returning home, and of course, battle.
