Fintan Switzer's Street Paintings Come Off as Living Things

His works look abruptly ended, giving his art an organic touch.

Fintan Switzer is a self-taught painter who is quickly building interest from both collectors and galleries in Europe and the US. He's only 21 and has an impressive body of work. The painter chooses topical subjects, depicting scenes of the Middle East and North Africa in recent years. He also likes to paint portraits outside as a form of street art. These pieces are very interesting because they often have an unfinished quality that make his art seem alive.

The artist says about his work: "For me, portraiture became quite tedious and I always hoped to paint my own scenes and thoughts. So putting work up outdoors seemed the furthest I could get from the familiarity of portraiture – so I gave it a go!"
