The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has revamped their collections website. Not only have they made their content more user-friendly, but they have also made 20,000 high-resolution images available for download. Previously only 2,000 images were available to be used with such freedom.
Allowing users this sort of access is redefining the relationship between art and enthusiasts. We've discussed how Artsy allowed online access to works from The Armory Show in New York, and it seems collectors are beginning to agree to give people art. Perhaps in the future everyone everywhere will be able to experience creative works to a full extent.
