Following Jean-Michel Basquiat's acclaimed posthumous exhibition at Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea, Artinfo has learned that one of his ex-girlfriends, Alexis Adler, has a few unseen works of his that she plans to write about and sell.

The two dated in 1979, shortly before Basquiat became famous. He painted Adler's East Village home with murals and installed other pieces that were precursors to the work we know of his today. After Basquiat died in 1988, Adler bought the apartment they shared and left his work untouched.

In many ways, these collective pieces are important keys to understanding the early development of his work. Thirty years later, Adler is ready to organize a sale, exhibition, and book of these unseen, highly coveted artworks. Let the madness ensue.
