19. The Beach at Villerville by Eugene Boudin, 1864

Medium: Oil on Canvas

Boudin spent his summers on Normandy's coasts, which inspired a few of his paintings. His small canvases of tourists on the beach received a decent amount of attention, and he often sold these quickly-painted works to their subjects. The Beach at Villerville features a dog in the foreground and a crowd directly behind, most likely painted in the same fashion.
