Carrie Underwood took the stage after Hunter Hayes at last night's GRAMMY Awards, singing “Blown Away” and “Two Black Cadillacs” in an elegant, floor-length gown. Little did the audience know that her dress would become the backdrop for a very cool piece of projection mapping. The visuals shifted throughout "Two Black Cadillacs," and thanks to Now This Is News, we have a ton of cool GIFs showing exactly how it looked.
Carrie told Yahoo News, "They can do a lot of amazing things with projectors these days. We had a dress especially made. I said I should take that home and we can watch movies on it."
As projection mapping continues to increase in popularity in 2013, Underwood's performance is indicative of its spread in culture beyond architectural and commercial projects. The experience resembled the idea of metamorphosis and required her to stand still for it to work. Props to her and the production team for pulling it off.
