Gerhard Richter Makes The Best of Ink Leftovers in "November" Series

Richter's trash becomes his own treasure.

Over the years, Gerhard Richter has created a variety of works that have stunned the world. His most recent series however, titled "November," is perhaps his most unexpected yet. This particular work was inspired by an accident. When decanting a black Edding marker-pen, some of its ink dripped onto a nearby piece of scrap paper. Fascinated by the strength of the material and its bold patterns, he began to use a series of thinning agents (like acetone) to manipulate colors and patterns, thus producing this incredible and unusual series.
