Chinese artist Li Hongbo creates smooth white sculptures out of paper to resemble skulls, trees, humans, and more. Before interacting with these, it can easily be assumed that the artist's main material has been marble or ceramic, but a closer look will reveal that these models are actually built from paper. Using elaborate folding and layering techniques, the artist uses paper and glue to create sculptures from thousands of layers of thin, plain white paper, thus the title of the series: "Pure White Paper." When picked up and moved, the sculptures are expandable and flexible, while when left to stand, they reveal their full, completed shape.
