The Library of Congress has released these posters created by the WPA in the 1930s, and despite their vintage aesthetic, they let us know what's up—syphilis is not a joke. In the wake of syphilis' increasing connection to HIV, their messages are more relevant than ever. In a design sense, it's interesting to note how these vintage styles and types have been replicated and revived in recent years.
