Back on March 16, 2012, Sarah Rudder hit the streets of Bellingham, Washington with a mission. Her aim: Participate in the 2nd Annual International Yarn Bombing Day. Her achievement: A beautifully placed, magnificently crafted R2D2 over a concrete block. Rudder's choice of subject and location is a triumph, but her work (which she later removed and took home) has raised questions.

Is yarn bombing street art if it appears, as Caroline Caldwell of Vandalog suggests, nothing more than "do it for the photo" work?

Start the year off with some debate and head to Vandalog for some insightful street art criticism.
