Back in October, Complex invited fans to vote for finalists in the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® Artisan Series, a competition that was launched three years ago in order to showcase the work of some incredibly talented artists from across the nation. After accepting submissions from over 3500 painters, photographers, and mixed media artists, five finalists were selected through Complex's online voting process. These lucky five were each paired with a celebrity filmmaker who hails from the same hometown to create a unique short film about how imagination and inspiration factor into their creative process.
Bombay Sapphire® Gin and Leopard Films USA have teamed up to produce a behind-the-scenes documentary that follows these five duos as they create their short films against the backdrop of their shared stomping grounds. Helmed by acclaimed documentarian Lauren Lazin, the 60-minute film, Imagination Unleashed: An Artisan’s Journey, gives viewers an intimate look at the individual creative processes of these young artists, from the time they are chosen as BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Artisan Series finalists all the way to the finale event during Art Basel Miami in December. Along the way, it highlights just how closely their journeys parallel those of their celebrity filmmaker partners, who include: Danny Simmons (New York), Freddy Rodriguez (Chicago), Persia White (Miami), Laz Alonso (Washington D.C.), and Melora Hardin (Houston).
