Check out your local park bench. It most likely has an amalgamation of bird poop, chipped paint, and some angsty high schooler's newly invented tag. But in Belgium, things are different—even their benches have the utmost amount of care and craftsmanship, because design matters. Onsite Studio and The Sebastian Weirinck Workshop feature the work of Belgian designer Sebastian Weirinck, who, in 2012 designed three benches from stainless steel tubes, in a way that looks like water flowing. Weirinck's unconventional bench designs hope to promote new interactions between the people sharing it. We're sure many new interactions have occurred, at least half of them starting with, "Wow, what a great bench."
