How long have you been a buyer and how did you get into it?
I founded End with my friend John 8 years ago and we have been doing the buying together ever since. We wanted to create a menswear store with all of the products that we were into, so obviously buying is probably the most important part of our business (coupled with great service!)
What is your favorite seasonal collection buy of all time?
That is a really hard question. There has been so many over the years but ultimately it is what is coming in the next season that isn't out yet that is exciting. By its very nature the industry is so dynamic that its changing all the time. Currently in my opinion this seasons Spring '13 is very strong with good classic Retro's and fantastic new technology such as Flyknit. In terms of retrospectively, probably our first Nigel Cabourn buy in Autumn/Winter '10 which had the Cameraman, Everest Parka, and Mallory jacket. These are now absolute classics, not just within Nigel's line but the menswear industry.
What brand's collection are you looking forward to getting most for SS13?
Nanamica, Thom Browne, New Balance & Neighborhood.
What advice would you give other buyers just starting out?
Go with your heart. If you're really passionate and enjoy the product that you buy, then I believe it will stand up to your customers.....and lots of hard work!
