Earlier in December, Amsterdam hosted International Human Rights Day where Vogelvrije Vrouwen (Defend Women Who Defend Human Rights), a campaign raising awareness of the mistreatment of Mesoamerican women defending human rights, featuring artist Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada. The artist was commissioned by Mama Cash, a feminist foundation to create a large-scale land portrait.

The space is roughly the size of two football fields and is part of Gerada's ongoing Terrestrial Series. With the help of 80 volunteers, passion for women and human rights, and a little bit of elbow grease, Gerada created a portrait of the highest caliber (get it?!). Check out the video for a better look.
