Heather Dewey-Hagborg Creates Portraits Using Genes from Strangers

Are computers taking over?

American artist Heather Dewey-Hagborg creates portrait sculptures of people in an unusual way. She finds discarded material in public places that has genetic material on it (think cigarette butts or strands of hair). By analyzing DNA, she creates her portraits with facial modeling software and a 3D printer. Her series Stranger Visions is based off of the principle of genetic determinism. Who knows what technology will help us do next.
