Finding an old rock hammer and tunneling your way out of prison just doesn’t cut it anymore to pass time in prison. To help inmates cope with doing their bid, two retirees and a prison in Maryland have instituted a Knitting Behind Bars program that hardened criminals can join and knit their troubles away. Prisoners who have joined the program are in for serious felonies including armed kidnapping, assault, and attempted murder, but find serious therapy in grandma’s old hobby. One inmate even compared to like being inside a Starbucks. All kidding aside, this is all for a good cause as the knits are donated to charitable causes. Peep the video as ABC News investigates.
