22. Hurricane Sandy Delivers Devastating Blow to NYC Art Galleries

Being located near the water during Hurricane Sandy was a huge disadvantage for the art galleries in Chelsea. Robert Zwirner, among others, experienced basement flooding and damaged artworks. As public transit was shut down, it also prevented visitors and buyers from visiting their spaces. Thankfully, many of these businesses have been able to rebuild slowly, but there is still work to be done post-Sandy.
