Roman & Williams are known for their interior design at the Ace Hotel in New York City, the Standard New York, the Dutch, the Boom Boom Room, and many other trendy establishments and homes. It's no surprise that Facebook, who also hired architect Frank Gehry to design their new Menlo Park offices, would look to them to design their new cafeteria at the same location.
Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch, who are at the helm of Roman & Williams, designed the Epic Café as a rustic work-in-progress environment, meant to be reflective of Facebook evolving product. It has reclaimed furniture and custom wood pieces with open spaces to sit and socialize beyond eating. In short, they created a warm space that encourages gathering and building. Isn't that what every company should be like?
