Kehinde Wiley has been to Morocco. He's been to Cameroon. He's been to Israel.
In each location, Wiley has sought to heroize his subjects—young urban males situated in baroque canvases. Wiley's latest collection of paintings forms his first solo exhibition in France. Of course, the subjects here are locals and his themes remain the same. The World Stage series examines the lingering racial and gender politics of European colonization.
